Power supply system of the diesel engine

Principle of operation of the diesel engine

During the operation of the diesel engine in its cylinders clean air which contracts to high pressure is soaked up. At the same time air temperature rises approximately to + 600 °C, exceeding temperature of ignition of diesel fuel. Fuel is injected into the cylinder with some advancing and ignites. Thus, spark plugs for ignition of fuel are not used.

At the cold engine temperature of compression of air is insufficient for fuel ignition. In this case preliminary heating of the engine is required. For this purpose in each cylinder of the engine the electric glow plug is established. For improvement of launch of the cold engine the beginning of supply of fuel is displaced towards earlier injection. After achievement by the engine of working temperature the beginning of injection is automatically displaced in the opposite direction. Control of the beginning of injection is exercised of the DDE block (DDE - system of digital diesel electronics) also, as well as management of amount of injectable fuel and management of pressurization air pressure.

Fuel is sucked in by the toplivopodkachivayushchy pump and moves to the fuel pump of high pressure (FPHP) of the engine. In TNVD fuel compresses up to the pressure about 160 bars and is injected as it should be, similar to an ignition order in the petrol engine. The amount of injectable fuel is defined by the DDE block according to impact on the accelerator pedal. Position of the accelerator pedal is defined by a potentiometer. The injection of fuel in cylinders happens through nozzles. Thanks to existence of the precamera or vortex camera the soaked-up air receives a certain movement that provides its good hashing with injectable fuel.

Before intake of fuel it passes the fuel filter where separates from pollution and water in TNVD. It is necessary to clear and replace the filter periodically.

TNVD does not demand leaving. Mobile details of the pump are greased with diesel fuel. The TNVD drive is carried out from a bent shaft through a chain.

For a stop of the engine TNVD have an electromagnetic valve. When giving a signal on the valve supply of fuel to TNVD stops and the engine stops.

The DDE block reveals the available malfunctions in operation of the engine and registers them. By means of the special device the malfunctions found by the block can be schitana from memory and further are eliminated.
