BMW 5 Series E39

1. Disconnect a weight cable from the rechargeable battery. The battery is in a luggage carrier behind the right side facing.

At a detachment of the battery the memories given in electronic blocks, for example, memories of malfunctions of the engine are erased.

2. Isolate a weight cable at the rechargeable battery to exclude casual contact.

3. Turn out three bolts of fastening of the lower facing of a steering column.

4. Press inside the top facing of a steering column on both sides in the area shown on an illustration and pull the lower facing down.

5. Rasstykuyte shtekerny connection of a safety cushion (orange color).

6. Rasstykuyte shtekerny connection of the switch of a steering wheel if it is available.
7. Turn out from a reverse side of a steering wheel two Torx screws 27 mm.

8. Raise knot of a safety cushion and a rasstykuyta the following shtekerny connections:
   Cartridge for ignition (1).
   b) Sound signal (2)
   c) Understeering switch (3).

9. Remove the block of a safety cushion and put a depreciation plate up, for example in a luggage carrier.

10. Establish wheels directly. Markings on a steering wheel and a spindle have to coincide.

11. Turn out a bolt (shooter on an accompanying illustration).

After a reversing of a bolt the safety spring (F) which holds a contact ring on average situation becomes more active. After a bolt reversing it is impossible to turn a steering wheel at all. Otherwise the contact ring is damaged.

12. Mark the provision of a steering wheel concerning a spindle.
13. Remove a steering wheel from a spindle. If necessary it is possible to use a stripper.

Do not force down and do not get blows a steering wheel. You watch that at removal of a wheel not to damage a cable.

1. Check the provision of a contact ring on a steering wheel. Markings (1) have to coincide. Address an accompanying illustration. If the contact ring was displaced or not confidence that it is on average situation, adjust the provision of a contact ring as follows.

2. Press a spring (F) and turn a contact ring to the left and to the right against the stop. Count total number of turns and halve them.

3. Turn a ring from an emphasis on the speed equal to a half received so that markings coincided (1). Release a spring (F).

4. Check whether costs an average of the lever of switching of signals of turn situation. Otherwise at installation of a steering wheel the cam can be damaged.

5. Establish a steering wheel on shlitsevy connection of a spindle so that earlier put markings coincided. You watch that the lock pin (1) entered a groove (2).

6. Tighten a bolt of fastening of a steering wheel the moment offered by Specifications.

It is impossible to turn a steering wheel to a fastening bolt inhaling. It is possible to damage a contact ring.

7. Install the block of a safety cushion and join shtekerny connection, address the Section "Removal".
8. Insert a safety cushion into a steering wheel and tighten a fastening bolt the moment of 2 Nanometers. At the same time you watch to jamming a cable.
9. Join shtekerny connections of a safety cushion (orange) and the switch of a steering wheel.

10. Establish the lower facing of a steering column. Press it and record. At the same time the stopper (1) has to enter a hook (2). Address an accompanying illustration.

11. Fix facing by three bolts.
12. Connect a weight cable to the rechargeable battery. Establish hours.
13. Pass on the car and check correctness of provision of a steering wheel at the movement directly. The top spoke of a wheel has to be located horizontally.
14. If the provision of a steering wheel another, remove it again and displace.
15. Check functioning of a sound signal.
16. Check automatic return of the switch of signals of turn.
